Leticia’s Smile Was Lost, And Casa Helped Her Find It Again

Leticia Reyes was going about her workday when her boss noticed something was wrong. She had been

suffering from dental issues that had left her unable to smile or eat properly. Concerned, her boss took

action, gathering a list of local clinics and giving it to Leticia with phone numbers to call. Leticia spent

hours calling each clinic, but none answered. Then, Casa El Buen Samaritano picked up.

Leticia’s first appointment became possible when a spot opened up due to a cancellation. “I was

jumping, I was so happy,” Leticia recalls. “God got me there. I will make the time.”

Leticia had moved to Houston from Mexico, where her dentures had been left unfinished. She felt

lost, unable to smile or enjoy food, and her sense of dignity faded. But when she stepped into Casa,

everything changed. “From the moment I walked into Casa, everyone spoke with friendliness, kindness,

and happiness,” she says. “It was God working.”

Before Casa, Leticia had been attending church, but she felt disconnected. “Going to Casa made me feel like God wasn’t forgetting about me,” she says. “My relationship with Him became more personal. ‘I’m here, you’re not by yourself.’”

Today, Leticia smiles confidently, knowing that without Casa, she wouldn’t be able to. “Without Casa, I wouldn’t be able to smile,” she reflects, grateful for the care and compassion that helped her rediscover her strength and faith. Leticia’s story is a powerful reminder of the life-changing impact Casa has on its patients. Rooted in God’s love, Casa brings hope, healing, and smiles to all who walk through its doors.

But many others like Leticia are still waiting for care. Casa’s dental program relies on the generosity of volunteers to meet the growing need. If you're a dental professional—or know someone who is—consider volunteering your time and skills. Your compassion could be the answer to someone’s prayer.
